Top High School Athletes Compete In Hispanic Games

Some of the city's top athletes competed in the 16th annual Hispanic Games in Manhattan Saturday.

More than 5,000 high school athletes from the area and eight other northeast and Middle Atlantic states are competing with their teams at the Armory New Balance Track and Field Center in Washington Heights.

The two-day meet features events such as the 400-meter dash, long jump and pole vault.

"I'm very honored to be here, because not a lot of people get the opportunity to come to the Hispanic Games and I feel like I'm good enough to be here," said Bayshore High School athlete Alexis Barru.
