ATP Signs Corona as Main Sponsor of Men’s Tennis Through 2015

Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The Association of Tennis Professionals said Mexican beer brand Corona Extra agreed to become the global sponsor of the men’s tour through 2015.

The ATP World Tour, which features 62 tournaments in 32 countries, has been without a main partner since its 12-year agreement with Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz unit expired at the end of 2008.

“We went a year without a tour sponsor, this obviously means more revenue for the tour and also some really creative marketing,” ATP Executive Chairman Adam Helfant said in a telephone interview.

Helfant declined to disclose financial details of the 5 1/2-year deal, which will give Grupo Modelo SAB’s Corona Extra “significant presence” at ATP World Tour events globally.
