Fox Sports En Español and Alianza De Futbol Kick Off 2010 El Sueño De Tu Vida

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 5, 2010) – Fox Sports en Español, the premier Spanish-language sports network together with Alianza de Futbol Hispano, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to the identification and support of amateur Hispanic soccer, today announced venues and dates for the 2010 edition of their highly successful nationwide scouting tour, El Sueño de Tu Vida. A joint partnership between Fox Sports en Español and Alianza, El Sueño de Tu Vida is the only national showcase for Mexican League, MLS teams and college coaches to scout soccer talent exclusively from the Hispanic community in the United States. In just two seasons, the program has secured over 100 formal try-out invitations from Mexican professional teams for 62 amateur Hispanic players across the country, 14 of which have signed professional contracts with Mexican teams. In addition, three players obtained college scholarships, two have signed Academy contracts with the Chicago Fire and one is playing for the Under-20 USA National Team. The 2010 edition of El Sueño de tu Vida will take place in ten markets across the United States and kicks off April 10th in Houston, Texas.
“We’re proud to continue creating opportunities for Hispanic youth to improve their lives through soccer,” said Brad Rothenberg, co-founder of Alianza de Futbol Hispano. “I believe the best amateur players live and play in Hispanic communities throughout this country and our success in bringing those players forward the past two years is just the beginning,” said Brad Rothenberg, Co-Founder and President of Alianza.

Alianza’s lineup of participating scouts is a true “Who’s Who” of Mexican soccer including scouts from Chivas, America, Tigres, Monterrey, Puebla, Leon, Cruz Azul, Toluca and Pachuca. Also in 2010 and as a result of El Sueño’s de tu Vida’s success, the Mexican Soccer Federation (Federacion Mexicana de Futbol) will be sending its talent evaluators to El Sueño tryouts.

In order to further expand opportunities for young players, Alianza recently announced a partnership with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The NSCAA will offer seminars in select Alianza markets for coaches of teams participating in the Verizon Copa Alianza and Copita Alianza tournaments. This landmark partnership will also open the door for the 30,000 NSCAA members to scout El Sueño de tu Vida players and will invite high school soccer coaches to encourage their top players to participate in the scouting sessions.

“The NSCAA will bring our expertise and services to the Hispanic community through Alianza with a goal toward aggressively increasing our Hispanic membership base and giving Hispanic coaches every opportunity available to learn and professionalize their resumes.” said Joe Cummings, CEO of the NSCAA.

In each venue, Alianza scouts will evaluate talent in two age divisions, “Open” and “Under-17.” Eighteen players will be chosen for the El Sueño de tu Vida Local All-Star Team which will play against a Mexican Primera Division A, Under-20 or MLS reserve team. Four players from each All Star team will be added to a national player pool of 40 finalists for the National All-Star Team, which will face a top professional team in a game nationally televised on Fox Sports en Español on October 3rd, 2010.

“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Alianza and will work together to continue the growth and development of Hispanic amateur soccer,” said Raul de Quesada, SVP - General Manager for Fox Sports en Español. “We are committed in providing an integrated platform to showcase the top Hispanic talent in the country.”

Alianza de Futbol’s 2010 lineup of sponsors includes Verizon, Fox Sports en Español, Monster Energy Drink, O’Reilly’s Automotive, Inc., Chevron, 7-Eleven, Atletica, and Semanario Record.
