Univision acquires Copa America 2011 rights
With this agreement, Univision will be the exclusive US home of Copa America 2011 and will leverage its broadcast and cable TV, interactive and on-demand platforms to deliver all the action of the 26-day tournament. Copa America 2011 will take place from July 1-24 in host country Argentina.
“Univision is the leading provider of soccer programming in the United States and with the acquisition of Copa America 2011 we are thrilled to reaffirm our position. We are committed to offering the best soccer content to our loyal audiences across our television, interactive and on-demand platforms,” said Cesar Conde, president, Univision Networks.
Copa America is among the most popular soccer events for Hispanic Americans. The 2007 tournament delivered record-breaking audiences and reached an average of 21 million total viewers across Univision’s networks.
