Bernie helps children celebrate Latino heritage

NEW YORK -- Bernie Williams has fared well since he unofficially retired from baseball, enjoying a blossoming music career and two decades' worth of diamond memories, but he finds more time for the kids now than ever.

Joined by Hall of Famer Juan Marichal, Williams delighted the Inwood Little League by answering scores of questions, teaching baseball techniques, and -- as a way of honoring his Latin heritage -- watching the Caribbean World Series game between Puerto Rico and Venezuela. The highly successful event was sponsored by Time Warner Cable and took place at Derek Aucoin's The Baseball Center on Saturday.

For Williams, it summoned memories of his own childhood experiences.
