Sports fans will be familiar with multiview; AT&T has previously offered the package for other major events and for Chicago Cubs baseball.

The telco said its U.S. Open multiview will be available free to all U-verse customers in SD or HD, on channels 661 and 1661 respectively, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 2. Viewers can watch multiple courts at once, selecting from the Tennis Channel's main broadcast and five courts. AT&T also is opening up five additional dedicated channels on 662-666 and HD on 1662-1666 covering live action from Grand Stand, Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong courts.

"The AT&T U-verse U.S. Open Multiview lets viewers control what they watch at the world's largest tennis event," said Patrick Wilson, senior vice president of distribution at the Tennis Channel. "We know tennis fans will embrace this great innovation."

AT&T is changing directions slightly with its Paquete Español offering.

Looking to attract Hispanic viewers, one of the fastest-growing TV viewer segments in the industry, AT&T is offering a multiview option that will allow users to choose from 53 channels, and to watch up to four at once.

The programming will be available on channel 3001 at no extra charge for U200 Latino and Paquete Español subscribers. It's the second Spanish-language app made available on U-verse TV.
